CTR Catholic will host a Community Open House in Okotoks on Wednesday, Oct. 17 for neighbours, community members and École Good Shepherd School parents to discuss a proposal to construct a temporary structure at the school.
In August, CTR received a report that the roof of the gymnasium at École Good Shepherd is unsafe for occupancy until it is repaired. As an immediate solution, students are currently being transported for physical education programming at St. James parish. This is a less than ideal solution.
It is estimated that remediation of the gym could take over one year and long-term planning considerations could extend this period to four years. Therefore, CTR Catholic will be hosting an OPEN HOUSE to propose a temporary structure be built on the south side of the school to be used as a gymnasium. The leased space will not only provide improved physical education space but will also be available for community use.
CTR Catholic is working with the Town of Okotoks and details of the location, aesthetics and access to surrounding recreational spaces will be reviewed at the Open House.
CTR representatives will also be coming door to door to review the proposal and answer any questions.
